Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority Study

Paid Study for riders of Washington, DC Metrobus and Metrorail

What is this study about?

We are conducting an important study on behalf of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). This study is being conducted to get feedback from Metro riders about trip planning applications. Information collected in this study is very important as it will be used to inform the design of a new Trip Planning Application WMATA is developing so that future users will find it easier to use.

We are looking for Metrobus and Metrorail riders to participate in an in-person usability interview at the EurekaFacts offices in Rockville, MD and possibly at a location in Arlington, VA. Each interview will last no more than 90 minutes and will be scheduled at a date and time of your convenience. After successful completion, participants will be paid a $100 e-gift card as an appreciation for their time and feedback.

Participation is completely voluntary, and all sessions will be audio and video recorded.

Frequently Asked Questions

What will happen during the interview?

This study requires participants to download two trip planning applications on their iPhone or Android device. Please make sure that you have enough memory on your mobile device in order to do this. No purchases will be needed, and the applications may be deleted after the interview.

Although you are welcome to wear a face mask during sign-in, we will ask that you remove your mask during the interview so that we can get a more complete sense of your reactions and experiences during the interview.

Participants will first be informed of the purpose of the study, what to expect during the session, and be reminded that the study is voluntary. During introductions, the interviewer will also describe the think aloud method and ask participants to think out loud as they work through the tasks.

Participants will be asked to complete a series of tasks while thinking aloud as they move through each step. At the end of all the tasks, participants will then be asked about their experiences on completing the tasks.
