Director of Public Health Research
Lani Steffens is the Director of Public Health Research at EurekaFacts. She is primarily responsible for leading high impact research projects in behavior change for public health and safety. She manages a research team of research analysts that design qualitative and quantitative studies, develop survey instruments, manage and execute projects, analyze qualitative and quantitative data, and present the study findings. She has 11 years of experience in public health research, along with expertise in social research and social marketing.
Since joining EurekaFacts, Lani has managed studies on a variety of topics, including opioid and other substance use, pedestrian safety, tobacco use, LGBTQ communities, community engagement, and others. Prior to EurekaFacts, she worked in mental health and health promotion with college students, assessed the wellbeing of resettled refugees, and created an advocacy platform for adults with disabilities to advocate for greater accessibility to local and state lawmakers. More broadly, Lani has also worked in social marketing for public health and environmental sustainability, diversity and inclusion in medicine, as well as the social services system for abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
Lani specializes in applying marketing approaches to behavior changes for social good. She also has specialized training in photovoice, a qualitative participatory action research approach using photography. With her years of on-the ground public health practice experience and behavioral research training, she brings the blended perspective of a scientist and a practitioner to EurekaFacts.Lani serves as adjunct faculty at the George Washington School of Public Health.
Lani holds a Master of Arts degree in Health Psychology from Texas State University, a Master of Public Health in Global Health Practice from the University of South Florida, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Trinity University. She holds a graduate certificate in Social Marketing for Public Health from the University of South Florida and is Certified in Public Health.
