CDC Health Equity Messaging In-Depth 

What is this research about? 

EurekaFacts, a social science and market research firm, is conducting interviews with healthcare providers, health/health equity decision makers, and health equity community leaders/influencers on behalf of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to learn more about health equity messaging. Participants will be asked to discuss their perceptions of equity and health equity as well give feedback on messages and imagery used to communicate concepts of health equity. Information obtained from the sessions will be incorporated in a report to help CDC identify and develop effective messages and approaches for communicating about health equity. 

Where will the session take place? 

The session will be held online virtually using Zoom at a date and time of your choosing. The link to the session will be provided after you confirm your participation. 

What will happen during the interview? 

During the session, participants will discuss their understanding of equity and health equity and will evaluate select health equity messages and images to identify ways to improve the messaging, tool, or resource. Each interview will be audio and video recorded. 

Will information be kept private? 

Yes, all information shared in interviews will be confidential. Each participant will be assigned a unique identifier (ID) and your name will not be linked to your answers. All information provided by participants will be used only for research purposes and will not be disclosed, or used, in identifiable form for any other purpose except as required by law (20 U.S.C. §9573 and 6 U.S.C. §151). All interviews will be recorded and used solely for analysis purposes; no identifying information will be shared in the final report. 

How long will the session last? 

The interview will last no more than 60 minutes. 

Is there an incentive for participating? 

Yes. After the interview, participants will receive a $75 e-gift card from a major credit card company. Please allow 7-10 business days for processing the e-gift card. The gift card may be declined if required by your institution or organization. 

What are the possible risks of being in the study? 

There are no known risks to participating in this voluntary study.

 Can I choose to end my participation at any time? 

Participation in these interviews is completely voluntary. You have the right to refuse to answer any questions and you may elect to withdraw your participation at any time and may leave the interview early if you wish. If you choose to leave early, you may forfeit some or all of the incentive offered for participation.
