Careers Website Usability Study
About the Study
EurekaFacts LLC, an independent social sciences research firm, is conducting interview sessions on behalf of ECU Communications and their client, a federal agency that would like to make their careers website easier to use.
What is the purpose of the study?
We are collecting feedback from post-secondary students and professionals to determine how easy or difficult it is to use the careers website of a prominent federal agency to find and apply to work and study opportunities. To accomplish this goal, we are conducting usability testing interviews wherein participants will attempt to complete a variety of tasks on the website. Participants will be asked about their experiences navigating, interacting with, and using the careers website to complete tasks.
How long will the testing session last?
The session will take no more than 60 minutes and you will be required to arrive 10 minutes before your testing session to sign in.
What can I expect during the session?
The online session will be a one-on-one interaction between you and a professional facilitator, although technical support staff may be present to assist with any difficulties. The facilitator will ask you some general questions about online applications before sharing the website we are testing with you. The facilitator will then ask you to complete a variety of tasks on the website and to share your thoughts as you do so. The facilitator will ask you some questions about the tasks as you finish them. The session will be recorded so that our research staff can know exactly what happened on the website, but the recording will be anonymized and will not be shared outside of the research team.
What are the possible risks?
There are no known risks to participating in this voluntary study.
How did you get my contact information?
You and others like yourself have been selected as residents of the United States who have expressed interest in participating in a research study.
Will my information be kept confidential?
Yes. The information you provide will be used only for research purposes. You will be assigned a research ID number and your responses will not be linked to your name. This way, the information you provide will be anonymous. All the information provided may be used only for statistical purposes and may not be disclosed, or used, in identifiable form for any other purpose except as required by law (20 U.S.C. §9573 and 6 U.S.C. §151). Audio and video of the session will be recorded only for analysis, and all personally identifying information will be destroyed at the close of the study.
What is the duration of this study?
We will be conducting the interview sessions between April 5, 2021 to April 28, 2021.
