SAS Programmer

Overview:

We are looking for a SAS programmer with strong quantitative analytical skills, as well as superb writing and oral communication skills. Activity includes SAS programming, data migrations to and from IBM mainframes,  data scoring, algorithm development, coding and advanced dataset manipulation migrating to and from a mainframe.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of three years of SAS programming experience. Knowledge and experience working with desktop datasets, and migrating data in research including quantatative and qualitative research.
  • Excellent command of the English language both in writing and orally. Strong writing and editing skills, strong attention to detail and project coordination skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office products including proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SAS programming. Familiarity moving files from Mainframe to PC and back.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Interpersonal communication skills, moderating and/or interviewing experience
  • Bachelor degree in statistics, computational mathematics or related degree and 3 years SAS programming experience; master's degree a plus.

Bilingual Cognitive Interviewer

Study Activities and Information:
  • Study activities involve working independently to administer in-depth/cognitive interviews in Spanish.  The interviews will be conducted at our office in Rockville, MD..
  • Candidates must be available to attend one paid training sesion in February 2012 in Rockville, MD.
  • Candidates must have reliable transportation and be able to travel to our office in Rockville, MD as needed.
  • Additional tasks will include preparing summary reports and working under the direction of the project study manager.
  • Hours will be primarily weekday daytime and evening hours depending on the need and availability of research participants.  There may be some need for weekend availability in order to accomodate research participant's preferences in scheduling interviews.  Flexibility is essential to the position.
Candidate Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree (desirable fields of study include psychology, sociology, child development or a related social science).
  • Native Spanish-speaker; high proficiency reading and writing in Spanish at native fluency levels are a must.
  • Ability to listen and accurately summarize verbal and non-verbal communication from research respondents.
  • Prior survey research interviewing experience a plus.
  • Ability to speak, read and write in English is a must.
  • Advanced computer literacy is a plus.

The postitions are temporary, part-time freelance and flexible.  The pay rate will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Preference will be given to individuals who have experience in working with Hispanic populations and a strong interest in the fields of education and/or psychology.  These are excellent opportunities for those who are interested in social research.

Research Analyst

Overview:

We are looking for two research professionals with a strong quantitative and qualitative research skills, as well as superb writing skills. Projects include cognitive interviews, usability studies, focus groups, survey research, study of marketing situations, estimate demand or trade-offs, measure use and attitudes toward resources or organizations, analyze brands, evaluate programs, optimize response, develop demographic profiles, and measure customer satisfaction, among other activities.

Responsibilities:

Conduct qualitative and survey research and analysis on various projects supporting nonprofit and government initiatives. Conduct research studies following the research plan, developing questionnaires, sample frames, collecting data, analyzing information and writing research findings reports.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of three years of social science or marketing research including survey research design, programming, analysis and reporting. Knowledge and experience in research including quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Excellent command of the English language both in writing and orally. Strong writing and editing skills, strong attention to detail and project coordination skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in survey research, statistical studies and quantitative data analysis.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office products including proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Knowledge of research software such as survey development tools, interviewing software, SPSS, STATA, etc.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Interpersonal communication skills, moderating and/or interviewing experience
  • Bachelor degree in marketing, social sciences, statistics, business, marketing, economics or related field.
